Leigh Anne and Josh

We just shot Leigh Ann and Josh's wedding this morning. It was a beautiful ceremony taking place at the Wedding Chapel on 6th street here in Amarillo. These guys are such a laid back couple and a lot of fun to work with. We managed to get some really great shots. Just started processing the photos, but thought I would go ahead and share one here. This shot was Leigh Ann's mom's idea. It turned out really nice. I am looking forward to going through the rest of their photos over the next couple of weeks. I'll post a link for everyone to check out when they are finished.

One More For Now

My sister in law called a few weeks ago wanting to have some portraits done of their new baby Conner. Adorable Kid! We managed to find some time to sneak over there. We set up in the living room and managed to get some really great shots. I have also been experimenting with adding some textures in photoshop. The image above is one of those experiments. I really like the way it came out. I am thinking I can start incorporating some more of this in my processing. It is obviously not needed for every photo. Although with the right shot, it can make for a great image.

We did some senior photos recently. The shoot was for a beautiful girl named Kathryn. She is planning on becoming a photographer. We made are way around downtown hitting several spots. She shoots quite a bit of her friends, and even showed me a couple of new locations. We had a great time. Thanks Kathryn.

It's been awhile!

Well, things have been pretty busy. I've been having trouble finding time to post. I'll start by posting a link to the New Orleans wedding. Yes I know it was in August. I just thought I would catch everyone up.

"The Big Easy"

Well, we are in New Orleans. We are getting ready to shoot a wedding on Friday 8-8-08. We are staying in the French Quarter at the Maison Dupuy Hotel. The web site really does not give it justice. It is a relatively small hotel, but definitely has that "french quarter" feel. The wedding is set to be held in the courtyard Friday evening. We took advantage of some free time this evening to get out and about and enjoy some of the local offerings. While enjoying some dinner at Pat O'Briens a parade came through led by a local band. We are having a great time and plan on posting again after returning to Amarillo. Meanwhile, will be taking it easy in the "Big Easy".

Starlight Canyon Ranch

Our most recent wedding was Lee and Lauren Hickmott. A beautiful couple that was married Saturday July 5th at the Starlight Canyon Ranch. It was an outdoor ceremony set against the backdrop of the canyon. The evening start time provided a nice warm light throughout the ceremony. Lauren was a gorgeous bride that just seemed almost angelic in many of her photos. Me and Amy, along with our second shooter Justin Nash, had a great time.

Welcome to amarillophotographer.blogspot.com

Welcome. This blog is designed to coincide with our website http://www.lifeofrileyphotography.com/. We plan to chronicle our adventures as we navigate our way through the adventure of starting a wedding and portrait photography business. My name is Jeff Harbin, and with the help of my wife Amy, "Life of Riley" Photography was started in the spring of 2008 with the launch of http://www.lifeofrileyphotography.com/. Art has always been a passion of mine, and for the last several years photography has been the focus of that art. Wedding photography has undergone significant changes with the introduction of digital photography. With photographers utilizing the flexibility of this new media to break some of the traditional stereotypes of what "wedding photos" should be. A trend toward photojournalism and artistic expression has increased the creativity of the field as a whole. Creativity is what inspires me as a photographer, and thus what has attracted me to this field. So as we begin, I welcome your input. Please take time to visit our website and galleries. Let us know how we are doing.
